Hamilton Joes Baseball Social Media Internship
Role Overview
Social Media Design | Internship
As a Social Media Manager Intern for the Hamilton Joes, I was responsible for designing and managing the team’s digital presence across multiple platforms: Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok. My work combined graphic design, content strategy, and collaboration, with a focus on increasing engagement and building a cohesive visual identity. I worked closely with fellow interns and the General Manager to plan, create, and publish content throughout the season.
Visual System and Template Design
Early in the internship, I identified the need for a consistent and efficient posting system that could support the team’s full game schedule. I designed a versatile set of social media templates for:
Game day posts (home and away)
Lineups
Final scores
Announcements and special features
Each template was created with usability in mind, allowing other interns to easily understand and apply the designs. Visually, the system balances fun, energetic design for younger fans with a nostalgic, comic-book–inspired aesthetic to resonate with longtime supporters.
TikTok Strategy and Content Development
In addition to design work, I launched and managed the Hamilton Joes’ TikTok account from the ground up. Although I had limited prior experience with TikTok, I embraced the challenge by researching trends and experimenting with content formats.
I created and published 9 original videos, including:
Player highlight interviews
Mic’d-up game moments
Lighthearted, personality-driven interviews
One video reached nearly 5,000 views, and another was cross-posted to Instagram, earning 44 shares and 34 comments. Through collaboration with fellow interns and the General Manager, I stayed current with trends and helped expand the team’s reach to new audiences.
Final Reflection
This internship strengthened my ability to design within a brand, collaborate in a fast-paced environment, and adapt creatively across platforms. It challenged me to balance strategy with experimentation while producing work that was both engaging and visually consistent. Most importantly, it reinforced my interest in combining graphic design, social media, and sports marketing to tell compelling stories.
